Nashville Zoo is where the historic plantation house called Grassmere or Historic Croft Home is located. Discover more about this 19th century house museum when you visit the zoo.
The zoo itself is located in Nashville, Tennessee in a 200-acre land. It was founded in 1996 as a merger between The Nashville Zoo and Grassmere Wildlife Park. Upon its opening, it retains the Grassmere house including its garden and historic farm.
A visit at the zoo can be historical, educational, and a fun experience for everyone. You can participate in a lot of daily activities from early morning to closing time. You can witness the Animal Shows and learn more about your favorite animals, or you can swing like the monkeys in the 66,000-square-foot Jungle Gym. You can even visit the Grassmere House Museum if you like to see what is inside it. Or if you enjoy rides, you can take the Wild Animal Carousel, or take a trip on the Wilderness Express Train which will take you to areas of the zoo not normally open for public viewing. Whatever you enjoy most at the zoo, it can never be more fulfilling than seeing the amphibians, arthropods, birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, and all the animals that live in the Nashville Zoo.
